In class we did a review on story and how it has to break wifm barriers to even be taken in by the receiver. I find this to be true, because whenever me and my friends are telling each other stories, we always come up with creative ways to make it interesting, whether is be by making the receiver laugh or make the person feel some emotion towards the story. I never thought about having a wifm barrier but it makes sense. I do sometimes have this what in it for me attitude, because some stories do not interest me or I regret even hearing them in the first place. I think the wifm barrier is good to know about when your analyzing stories, it can sometimes make you think more critically about them.
